EMERGENCE
Acrylics & Mixed Media on Board

Emergence is about the slow process of finding yourself again after a period of darkness — not stepping out untouched, but carrying the marks of what you have lived through with you.
The figure appears gradually from layers of deep colour and heavy texture, part of her still obscured and part revealed. She isn't completely separate from the darkness surrounding her; it has become part of the surface, part of her story.
Against it sits a single sunflower — a small suggestion of warmth, resilience and life. Not an attempt to pretend the darkness wasn't there, but a reminder that something can still turn towards the light from within it.
There is vulnerability in Emergence, but also quiet strength. She isn't triumphant or transformed into somebody entirely new. She is simply beginning to become visible again.
A piece about survival, identity and the tentative return to yourself — emerging not despite what has shaped you, but carrying it forward as part of who you have become.
